I'm inspired by a lot of things. Art, music, movies, books. Any creative medium I can seem to find something inspiring or insightful that helps me through life. Lately I've been listening to songs that speak to me about my life and the journey that I'm on everyday. There's a song by Francesca Battistelli called 'Write Your Story'. It's a beautiful song about allowing God to write our story, to take our lives and mold them into what He has planned for us.

So many times we think we know what's best for our lives. We think we know what's right, we can make our own decisions...we're adults right?? Now don't get me wrong...we can make our own decisions. This is why God gave us free will. There's a difference in following God's will for our lives and making our own decisions and not allowing God to lead us. For me it's taken a long time to understand truly how to follow God's leading. I don't get it right every time but for the most part there is little triggers I know to allow me to realize if I am about to make a decision that is God-lead or self-lead.

Our lives are like an empty non-written book. We are a blank slate, blank pages. As we follow God's leading and allow Him to write our stories he is making marks in our book. He is writing our story along with us as we write our stories. As the song says, He is the author of our hope, the maker of the stars. We want to be His work of art and show His love to everyone we meet.

In this time of waiting for your breakthrough, your blessing, your trials...while you're writing your story, we need to allow God to lead us in our decisions. We need to follow His direction. This life that He has given us was never meant to be easy. It was meant to try us, to break us, to see how much more we can handle on our own. We are the cake, just waiting for the icing. God has this plan for our lives that we are not meant to know, to understand. We are the cake...He (and His plan) is the icing. When we allow God control of our lives we receive the richest blessings and breakthroughs.

In this time of waiting I encourage you to allow God to write your story. Allow Him to work on your life in ways you could never imagine. All Him control and to provide you with direction. You will feel such peace when you surrender fully and completely to Him and His plan for your life.
