The Power of Thanksgiving

One of the amazing things I personally like to do on a daily basis is give thanks to God. I don't only do it during my devotion in the mornings, but all throughout the day I've made it a habit to just say lord I thank you. The reason I made this a habit and personal commitment is because, I have seen first hand the results of thanking God not just for what I have or my particular situation but what God is going to do in my future.

A few years ago I was having difficulties with my health and some other things in my life were not going so well. I prayed, fasted and prayed some more but it wasn't until I started thanking God for my healing and answered prayers for those difficult situations did I start to see results. Don't get me wrong praying and fasting is good but add worship and thanksgiving then you are all set. God is moved not by our prayers or our crying but he is moved by our praises and thanksgiving.

There are certain situations we go through that will require us to spend time praying and waiting on God, while other times we have situations where you will need to spend time praising him for the open doors, for that great opportunity he has for you or that great spouse he is bringing your way. So praise him not only when you have that large bank account or that new car or new outfit but praise him when things are hard as well because he is waiting for you to put on your dancing shoes and give him some radical praise. Don't wait till you get to church before you dance and raise your hands in praise, you can sing and praise him in your bedroom, when you're in the shower or while in your cubicle at work( this is a biggie for Shawna & I ..lol ).

So let's develop this habit today and give God thanks in everything we do, sing praise to him either in the shower, at work or while in traffic and I promise you will not be disappointed. God will come through for you like never before in Jesus name. For this week I encourage you to read the book of Psalms most especially Psalms 100, if possible let this be your scripture for the week.
