Trust the Process

Doubt...it's something that we all deal with everyday. We live in a time where doubt runs our lives. It's a time where we only believe it if we can see it. It contradicts this thing we claim to have as Christians...Faith. The faith to know our lives are destined for more. The faith to believe we will be healed, faith to know we believe in the one true savior. In the season of waiting you're in, the faith to know God's promise for you and your life will come to pass. I get it...you're faith can waiver when you're waiting for the promise to happen. That was me a couple weeks ago.

A couple weeks ago I had a conversation with Rachael about waiting. The frustrations I was feeling, the desire to see God move in my life and bring me all that I had dreamed about and desired for almost my whole life. Now Rachael, the amazing friend that she is helped me look at what I was feeling in a different way. She reminded me that no matter what I was feeling it was normal to have these frustrations and not think God is working in my life even though I can't see it. We have to have the faith to know that all things will come to us who wait on the Lord. So pressing on I continued my prayers for my future spouse knowing that God is working something for those who believe in Him and his promise for us. "Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours." Mark 11:24 (NIV)

You know those moments when you feel God leading you to read a certain passage, watch a certain message, etc...well that was this past week. I felt God leading me to watch some sermons on YouTube from Elevation Church. So I pulled up YouTube to see which one I felt like watching. Well one turned into 6 so far. Elevation Church is working currently through a sermon series called 'Bars & Battles' and if you have time to watch them I recommend them. Bars and Battles works through the Psalms and some of 1 Samuel. It's about how King David (even before he was king) was the first MC/DJ (their words not mine) with his writings of the Psalms. It's a great series to work through the Psalms...ok now to my point!

I watched one this week and it had to do with doubt (see...I'm tying it all together :) ). It was a 'soundtrack for doubt' and it hit on exactly how I was feeling while waiting on God's promise for me of a future spouse. We compromise when we doubt. We wait so long for God to provide us with the promise that we compromise our values and morals. We compromise on a job, our health, our future spouses. We tend to believe that when something begins to happen or what we think is doors opening, that this will be good enough. We get impatient! There is a process. There's a step to take. This season of waiting is a process for us to discover more about ourselves. It's a process where we can be used for the kingdom and we can serve in ways we never thought possible. Our doubt is designed to make us stop the process and not wait on the promise. We allow Satan into our thoughts and it derails the process. Satan cannot order our steps but he can keep us from taking a step closer to the promise.

God orders our steps. He wants us to work through the process to receive the promise. When it feels like forever, do not dismiss the process and doubt the promise. "The LORD makes firm the steps of the one who delights in him; though he may stumble, he will not fall, for the LORD upholds him with his hand." Psalm 37:23-24 (NIV) So if we are looking for good men/women to be future spouses based on God's promise for us guess what...their steps are ordered by the Lord. (The LORD directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives. NLT version)

Don't let doubt run your life. I get it...it's easy for me to say trust the process. But I know that if I trust the process that God wants me working through, He will give me the promise and the desires of my heart. I encourage you today...trust the process. Give your desires to God. Give your doubt to Him. Know that He directs your steps and will lead you to the promise He has for you.
