I have been studying the book of Proverbs for a while now, my focus has been more on Chapter 31 which is about the virtuous woman. I will be sharing with you what I've learned so far while reading this chapter and how we can apply this to our every day lives whether as a single woman or a married woman.

In this chapter I realized that being a virtuous woman is not about perfection but a life of purpose, service and dedication. In order to be able to fulfill all these things as a woman single or married you must know that you are worth more than rubies or pearls.Don't let anyone tell you or make you feel that you are good for nothing, because God considers you his child and he thinks so highly of you and that's why he chose to send his only son Jesus Christ to die for your sins. Most women tend to compare themselves with other women and they don't run their own race(by race I mean focusing on what God has purposed you to be) but they'd rather be like someone else, look like someone else instead of being who God wants them to be. Know your worth, not by looking at someone else but by looking at yourself through God's eyes because He made you.

A life of service is another quality of a woman who knows her worth. Serving others brings joy, fulfillment and it shows that you care. Proverbs 31 verse 15-20 explains how the virtuous woman serves her family, the needy and the poor around her. Now you don't have to be a married woman in order to exhibit this life of service, as a single woman waiting on God for her Boaz this quality should be practiced daily and should be a part of you. Serving others encompasses a lot of things; It could be cultivating a good friendship and being a shoulder for your friends to cry on,helping or volunteering at your local church or community, Loving people around you and providing them the care and support when they are in need, being trustworthy when people confide in you and exercising patience even in the most difficult of situations. Now for married women it could mean taking care of your husband by loving him and giving him the support he needs, taking care of your in-laws, taking care of your children etc.

Another point I've learnt about the woman of virtue in this chapter of proverbs is time management. A woman of worth knows how to appropriate her time each day and making sure she completes her tasks per day and making sure she pleases God while doing so. Proverbs 31 verse 27 "She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness." Managing your time wisely as a woman of worth is extremely important, try not to engage yourself in meaningless conversations or unnecessary activities, this is time that you can use to do good to people around you or complete your work for the day.

As a single lady waiting on God for her Boaz, I encourage you to cultivate the life of the Proverbs 31 woman don't wait till you're married to start exhibiting this life style, daily strive to be a woman of worth and a woman of virtue by asking God for His help. For those who are married its also a good thing to continue to develop these qualities, ask God to help you in areas that you might be lacking and the patience to follow it through.
