My Purpose, My Goal

The late Billy Graham was a man of God who preached the Gospel of Christ with passion, confidence and sincerity. He knew his calling and he was faithful to it. I was privileged to have listened to some of his recorded preaching while growing up, he was one of my father's favorite preachers of the gospel and every time he talked about Christ he had this sparkle in his eyes that showed how much he loved God.

Preaching the Gospel of Christ shouldn’t be done in our churches alone, we should proclaim Christ through our actions, our attitude and behavior every single day. It is when we do so that God's love gets shown around us even in the world where there is so much hate. One of my favorite quotes from Billy Graham is "Being a Christian is more than just an instantaneous conversion-it is a daily process whereby you grow to be more and more like Christ". This should be our goal daily whether you are a single person or married person, young or old our purpose ultimately as a child of our Savior Jesus Christ is to show and give love to others.

I have often heard many Christian single ladies say " I just want to be married and have children then my purpose will be fulfilled" ,this shouldn't be so because once you are married your responsibility now is to take care of your home, the children God has given you and the most important part is to look after their spiritual well being ,making sure they love God and love people around them. Your purpose as a wife and a mother is to train your children in the way of the lord, teach them to be good to people in the midst of adversity and all this has to start with you as the parent. I'm not saying that you have to be perfect but you should strive each day to be a good example to your family. Matthew 5 verse 16-NIV "In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your father in heaven."

As a young lady or young man seeking the face of God for a spouse your character, behavior and attitude daily should be Christ like. Stop pretending to be Christ like or pretending to love God so that the guy can ask you out on a date or so that the girl can be sweet on you, rather love God and love people genuinely without any form of selfishness. Romans 12 verse 9-10 -NLT " Don't just pretend to love others. Really love them. Hate what is wrong. Hold tightly to what is good. Love each other with genuine affection, and take delight in honoring each other."

As a wife and mother I have come to realize that every of my actions, words, attitude and behavior matters and I have to represent Jesus even in my own home. It might not be easy especially on days when my husband and I have misunderstandings and he's probably pushed my last button ( LOL), but I make it a duty to remain faithful and reflect Christ in the way I deal with the situation, by not keeping malice or yelling curse words but rather talking to each other in love. The same way you express Christ to outsiders be a perfect example in your own home, to both your kids and your husband or wife.

There's an old hymn I love so much and this hymn sums up what our lives should look like every single day!

While passing thro’ this world of sin, and others your life shall view,

Be clean and pure without, within; Let others see Jesus in you.

Let others see Jesus in you, Let others see Jesus in you.

Keep telling the story, be faithful and true;

Let others see Jesus in you.

Your life’s a book before their eyes, They’re reading it thro’ and thro’

Say, does it point them to the skis, Do others see Jesus in you?

Let others see Jesus in you, Let others see Jesus in you.

Keep telling the story, be faithful and true;

Let others see Jesus in you.

Then live for Christ both day and night, Be faithful, be brave and true,

and lead the lost to life and Christ. Let others see Jesus in you.

Let others see Jesus in you, Let others see Jesus in you.

Keep telling the story, be faithful and true;

Let others see Jesus in you.
