Stay Covered!

If you are a vehicle owner or a home owner, you know that it is important that you are covered under an insurance to protect you in case of unforeseen circumstances. I will like to say it also applies to us as Christians, we need to cover ourselves spiritually, this is so we can stand against the forces of the devil.

Covering yourself spiritually means studying the word of God daily, developing a closer relationship with God, spending time in fasting and prayer and keeping Godly relationships. One of the benefits of covering ourselves spiritually is that we develop ammunition to fight the devil , you are able to resist and not give into temptations. As a single man or woman waiting on God for a spouse, you need to constantly cover yourself, because there are temptations all around that if you are not deeply rooted in the word of God, might cause you to sin. Ephesians 6:11-13 -NIV "

11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood,but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand."

Another benefit of staying covered is that we are strengthened during hard times especially times of rejection. Being rejected can put a dent on self esteem and you begin to question your self worth, but meditating on the word of God daily can help us through our lowly times. I have found that reading the book of Psalms encourages me when I feel down and discouraged, it might not be easy but we have to stay true to the process. Do you have a favorite scripture that calms your spirit in difficult situations? If you don't I encourage you to find one, it will help your faith and give you an assurance that God has got you covered.

Lastly, staying covered especially while waiting on God for your breakthrough or miracle will help you stay focused. Before I met my husband I made a habit of speaking the word of God over my life, each morning I will prayed this prayer " Lord whatever it is that is covering me that is not of you and has not let my Boaz find me, Lord Jesus remove it". Now there are lot of things that may have covered me spiritually and may not have allowed me to stay focused, but God answered my prayer, He helped me with attitude and behavior, and He also let me realize His timing was all I needed to rely on.

We all have different things we are looking to God for, but while we wait let us stay covered and the first step is to ask Jesus to be your lord and savior, then ask for His covering while you wait for His promises to be fulfilled, ask Him to strengthen you and help you even in difficult times.
