Rest!

Rest according to the dictionary means to cease work or movement in order to relax, refresh oneself or recover strength. This is very important to our health both mentally and physically. God rested on the seventh day after He completed the creation of the earth. Genesis 2:2-NLT "On the seventh day God had finished his work of creation, so He rested from all His work."

I have had friends tell me they don't have time to rest or relax because they are so busy, and I've also said the same. Life is busy, but do you know just taking 5 minutes out of your day to close your eyes and take a deep breath can make a big difference? Yes it does! Try it out. Resting doesn’t necessarily mean sleeping for hours on end, to rest you can take a few minutes to sit and appreciate God's creation.

Many times we go through tough situations, failed relationships, financial crisis or a loved one battling an illness and we wonder when we will get a rest from it. Matthew 11:28-30-NIV “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

Jesus is the only one that can give us rest from all our troubles, all we need to do is to ask. Do you need rest in the area of finances? ASK! Do you need rest in your marriage? ASK! So ask God today to give you rest from whatever might be bothering you, or you could ask God to give rest to a friend waiting on God for a miracle. Rest in our time of waiting in whatever shape or form will allow us to stay focused and in turn strengthen our faith in God.
