You are Enough!

Most of us have felt rejection at one point or the other. We’ve felt out of place among a crowd, we’ve missed or been denied opportunities because of who we are, and we’ve even lost friendships or relationships in the course of our lives. Whatever the form of rejection you’ve faced, what’s common to most of us is that we start looking at what’s wrong with us. We tend to internalize that rejection and start tearing down who we are. We ask ourselves if we are good enough, smart enough, beautiful enough and “whatever else” enough. We try to change ourselves to fit in with a certain mold of people so we can be accepted. We stop being true to who we are . Jeremiah 1:5-NLT “I knew you before I formed you in your mother’s womb. Before you were born I set you apart and appointed you as my prophet to the nations.” If God says that He knew you long before He formed you, it means that He took His time to put extra thought in who you are. He knew your likes and dislikes, He planned the way you’d look and who you’d be. He sculptured every part of you in His heart and mind before He formed you in your mother’s womb. And because He did all that, I’d like to assure you that you’re more than enough. You are everything He ever wanted you to be. Your value does not depreciate based on people’s inability to see your worth. If we take every rejection to heart, we’ll end up losing our identity and doubting everything that God has said about us. So what do we do to guard our hearts against feeling less than who we are? I will share two things that have personally helped me. Be well worded By that I mean know your Word. Take time to study the Bible, that's the best way to know what God says about you. It is also the best way to grow and be refined; even if there is a character flaw in you, studying the word will gradually renew it and you’ll become more like Jesus. 2 Corinthians 3:18-NLT"So all of us who have had that veil removed can see and reflect the glory of the Lord. And the Lord—who is the Spirit—makes us more and more like him as we are changed into his glorious image". Hebrews 4:12-NLT "For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires".

Shout it from the mountain tops Okay, maybe that’s a bit exaggerated but what I mean to say is declare your identity out loud. Speak over yourself what God has said about you. It has a powerful effect on your mind. The Bible says that as a man thinks in his heart so he becomes. When you know the word and declare the word over yourself, you change the way you think and hence you change who you think you are. You become who God says you are. Romans 12:2-NIV "Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is--his good, pleasing and perfect will". Do this exercise as often as possible: stand before your mirror and speak life over yourself. Tell yourself how beautiful you are, how blessed you are, how precious you are to God. You’ll be surprised at the difference it’ll make in your thought pattern if you do this consistently.
